Shopping And Markets in And Around The Sunshine Coast

Is there any better feeling than a spot of retail therapy in the sun?

The Sunshine Coast is far from just a beach destination; it offers one of the best shopping experiences on the East Coast of Australia! From malls to boutiques, High Street stores to farmer’s markets, flea markets to souvenir shops, shopping and markets in Sunshine Coast are a paradise for shopaholics.

Sunshine Plaza

Sunshine Plaza is one of the largest Sunshine Coast markets and has been servicing the local region since 1994. Coles, Kmart, Myer and Target are a few of the stores you will find in Sunshine Plaza.

The Original Eumundi Markets

Come and enjoy the enchanting experience of the world-famous Original Eumundi Markets, which is renowned for products made by local artisans. Rain, hail, or shine, the markets are open every Saturday from 7 am to 2 pm and Wednesday from 8 am to 1.30 pm.

Montville

Montville offers everything from boutique shopping and art & craft galleries to quirky cafes, burger bars, tea rooms, confectionery shops, boutique pubs, fine dining restaurants… and much more!

Caloundra Street Fair

A hidden treasure on the Coast featuring 100 unique stalls, the Caloundra Street Fair has something for the whole family.

Retail Therapy in the Sun!

Many visitors love to spend a few hours wandering around the local markets, tasting some delicious local foods made from freshly grown local produce, and purchasing handmade goods and perhaps some local jewellery.

For the ultimate local produce market experience, head to Eumundi markets on a Wednesday and Saturday! This is when the entire town turns into country markets, and you’ll find a whole host of souvenirs and items to purchase and take back home with you.

Alternatively, the Noosa Farmers Markets offer the ideal opportunity to try fresh produce and snacks, such as cheeses, honey, jams, meat, and bread. You’ll struggle to succumb to temptation as you sniff out those tasty treats!

Want more Sunshine Coast markets? Peregian Beach Markets is a great spot. You can combine a little time on the sand with some shopping later at the Peregian Beach market.

Cotton Tree Markets are a great family destination, too. You will find local produce, food, fashion and a craft market in the Cotton Tree Market.

You’ll find the accompanying Caloundra Street Fair equally enjoyable, with live music, local performers, entertainment, and a general merry vibe.

The Sunshine Coast Collective Markets, Kenilworth Country Markets and the Marcoola Twilight Market are other markets worth exploring.

Prefer the Indoors?

If you want to get out of the sun for a little while and perhaps head into a slice of air-conditioned heaven, head to Hastings Street in Noosa, where you’ll find some upmarket clothes to try!

You could just window shop if you don’t want to bash your credit card too much, but you’ll certainly be tempted to take home something new.

Alternatively, Noosaville is home to Gympie Terrace, another spot for boutique-style shopping, or head to Montville’s busy shopping streets, with many High Street stores to check out.

One of the most popular places to head is Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore. Here, you’ll be able to have the ultimate mall experience, with food outlets, coffee shops, air conditioning, and, of course, plenty of shops to check out.

If you want a quick reference guide, let’s list a few must-visit spots for easy reference.

Sunshine Coast Markets to Visit
  • Kunara Organic Marketplace – Open every day, you’ll be able to try some delicious organic, local dishes here.

  • Caloundra Street Fair & Caloundra Twilight Markets during the festive period and special days – check online to find out when the Twilight Markets are operating, as these are generally on special occasions only. Having said that, the Street Fair is a regular deal.

  • Tin Can Bay Markets – Held on the third Saturday morning of the month near Gympie.

  • Eumundi Square – A massive Sunshine Coast market held every Wednesday and Saturday morning.

  • Caloundra Country Markets – Enjoy rural fare on Sunday mornings with a picturesque beachside location.

  • Noosa Farmer’s Markets – Every Sunday morning, and a hugely popular market for fresh fruit and vegetables and freshly baked cakes.

Shopping Streets & Malls to Visit
  • Kawana Shopping World – At just 10 minutes on foot to Kawana Beach, this is a great place to head for a spot of air-conditioned shopping fun! With around 160 different stores and a food court, you’ll have plenty of choices.

  • Sunshine Plaza – This is the largest mall on the coast, and it has over 200 stores to check out. You will find a large food court and a multi-screen cinema here. You could easily spend a day or an evening if you wanted to have a chilled-out, indoor shopping experience

  • The Wharf Mooloolaba – This is an entertainment district, but it has a lot of shopping opportunities whilst also allowing you a nightlife and dining experience.

  • Hasting Street, Noosa – A top spot for upmarket clothing.

  • The shopping streets of Montville

  • Gympie Terrace in Noosaville – Another retail street hotspot

What Should You Buy?

With so many places to shop and do some credit card damage, you might want to bring an empty suitcase for your return journey home! Of course, you might be wondering whether you should buy any specific souvenirs from this area to remember your time.

The rural delicacies are certain things to purchase. But do be careful taking these back home, as border control often restricts the transportation of any food or drink. For that reason, buy them and enjoy them on the day! Fill your boots; you’re on vacation!

Aside from that, you’ll find many clothing choices to buy, including vintage clothes. Grab some board shorts, some funky flip flops (thongs), and some beach dresses to show off your Australian style back home!

You’ll also find some high-quality tailoring and evening dress stores, especially on Hasting Street in Noosa and the big shopping malls. Depending on the prices you’re used to paying back home, these might be cheaper to buy while you’re on vacation.
