Must Do Sunshine Coast Activities for Your Bucket List

Must-Do Sunshine Coast Activities for Your Bucket List

The Sunshine Coast is packed with fantastic activities that are deserving of a spot on any bucket list. Here we’ll explore some must-do activities you should consider.

Discover Hidden Waterfalls

The Sunshine Coast has some superb coastal walks, including the Cotton Tree to Mooloolaba Esplanade, but if you want to get away from the tourists, then you need to discover some of the stunning hidden waterfalls. Just a short drive from the beaches at Maroochydore, you’ll find Buderim Falls. This amazing waterfall is known as Serenity Falls for good reason; you’ll not only see a majestic waterfall, but also towering trees and meandering tracks that will make you feel that you’re a million miles from civilisation.

Take the TreeTop Challenge

The Big Pineapple is a must-see for all Queensland visitors, but you can take your Instagram moment to a whole new level with the TreeTop Challenge. This is in the Nambour region and is perched 120 metres above the ground, making it the highest adventure course, here in Australia. There are 100 high rope challenges and zip lines among the beautiful rainforest.

Swim with Humpback Whales

If you plan your visit between July and October, you can enjoy a swim with humpback whales. The Sunshine Coast was the first site in Australia where it was possible to swim with wild humpback whales. Once you’ve finished your swim, you’re in an ideal location to enjoy many of the delicious restaurants that overlook the Mooloolah River.

Take in the Original Eumundi Markets

Each Wednesday and Saturday, the small market town Eumundi simply explodes with crafts, colour and culinary treats. The Original Eumundi Markets are one of Australia’s largest craft and art markets, and you’ll discover some amazing locally made artisan products. You can even meet the talent behind these treasures, chatting to craftspeople, bakers, and farmers.

See the Hinterland Villages and Glass House Mountains

You can lose yourself in the serenity of the area, stopping at the mountain villages along the Blackall Range crest. These villages are not only full of arts and craft spots and thriving cafes but provide views stretching to the Caloundra beaches. While you’re in the area, take time to explore the ancient volcanic Glass House Mountains. You can walk through lush rainforests and take time out among the breathtaking scenery.

Explore Secluded Coastlines

The Sunshine Coast is a popular tourist destination, but you can still get away from any crowds by exploring some of the wonderfully secluded sections of coastline. One of the longest stretches of sands on the Sunshine Coast is Kawana Beach. This is a nine-kilometre section that runs from Point Cartwright to Currimundi Lake. With such an expanse of sand, you’re sure to find your own piece of paradise. You can take a scenic stroll, enjoy a picnic, or even whale watch with epic views, particularly from Point Cartwright.

Surf at Coolum

If you’re new to surfing, Coolum provides a great spot for beginners. There are lots of waves that are suitable for all skill levels, and it is a great spot to take some lessons. You can even refuel at the Coolum Surf Club with a delicious lunch.
