Pioneer Coffee

First up, it’s coffee time…Smell the heady aroma of freshly roasted coffee as the roaster gives you a personal demonstration at Pioneer Coffee. After that, sample the wares and purchase some of their blends or single origin coffee to take home with you.

Ginger Factory

Following Pioneer Coffee, we spend two hours at the Ginger Factory giving you plenty of time to learn to how Ginger is grown, harvested and turned into yummy foods on a Factory Tour, ride the Ginger Train or go on the Overboard Boat Ride.

You can also shop at speciality retail stores, enjoy a huge range of delicious foods or wander the sub-tropical garden filled surroundings.

Optional extras at The Ginger Factory include the Guided Factory Tour, The Overboard Boat Ride and Moreton The Ginger Train

Whether you want to eat, shop or play – the Ginger Factory has something for all the family.

Next door to The Ginger Factory is Nutworks, a proud supplier of macadamia nut in shell, kernel, flavoured nut products and sweets. Located in Yandina on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, they are an Australian company recognised for quality and innovation. Nutworks supplies major supermarkets, and smaller outlets nationally, and also export macadamia their products overseas.

When we arrive into the Hinterland Village of Montville, you can spend an hour checking out the quirky and delightful shops and boutiques, enjoying this picture-postcard village and its mountain air.

Secrets on the Lake

Next, we’ve got a lunch date on the lake! Set in rainforest, on the side of Lake Baroon you’ll enjoy a delicious 2-course meal on us. “Secrets on the Lake” is a popular foodie destination in Montville and enjoys panoramic views of Lake Baroon.

Gerrard’s Lookout

After lunch, it’s time to get back on the minibus and check out the awesome panoramic coastline views from Gerrard’s Lookout.

Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve

After our scenic lookout stop, we drive across Blackall Range to Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, a scenic rainforest reserve set on 55 hectares of subtropical rainforest overlooking the stunning Glass House Mountains.

In Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve you have an opportunity to walk 1.7km through the pristine rainforest learning about the unique flora and fauna that abound here.

If you are lucky enough to get a volunteer guide for the walk, they will point out the diverse bird life and hopefully you’ll spot more animals too.

After Mary Cairncross you will be dropped back to your accommodation late afternoon in time for a rest before dinner.

My son and I had an amazing day out with our driver, Geoff. Geoff was very knowledgeable and affable and helped make the day out very pleasant. We started the day with a visit to Pioneer Coffee roastery where we enjoyed a great coffee and watched the coffee roasting process. Nutworks is immediately next door and was the source of the freshest, most delicious macadamia nuts. A highlight was visiting Montville. It is a beautiful little village with a vast array of interesting shops. An amazing lunch at Secrets on the Lake was included in the tour price. We capped the day off at the Maleny Botanic Gardens. We chose to visit the aviary there and it was a wonderful experience. I’ve always been scared of interacting with big parrots such as macaws, but the birds are so well trained and friendly that I was able to overcome the fear and have fun interacting with the birds. Overall, we had a great day and would highly recommend Coast to Hinterland Tours.

We booked the above tour and when we were picked up at our hotel it was only the 2 of us and Jeff, so a private tour. Jeff was very professional and friendly and adjusted our timing of where we visited to suit us which was great. The tour was interesting and informative and we had a great time looking around the towns we visited. The rain forest was great. Our highlight was our visit and lunch to Secrets on the Lake. The food was very good and the owner showed us around one of their tree houses which are amazing. The vehicle we traveled in was very clean and tidy and there was a bottle of water for us.

Mark and Jeff run a very professional tour. Showed up right on time and very friendly right from the off. Jeff was our guide, very knowledgeable about the attractions and quite accomodating. Particularly enjoyed his stories/legends as passed down by aboriginal people explaining the landscape. He has done his research and is very wel versed in the history of the area. We did this tour as part of our baby moon, with a 7 months pregnant partner and this was not an issue at all. Dietary requirements were met during lunch. This tour is a must do if you are in Sunshine Coast. Great way to see the hinterland
